THE BASICS OF CANNABIDIOL (CBD) AND CANNABINOIDS:
To understand CBD – you should know cannabinoids first.
WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS?
Cannabinoids are the active chemical compounds in cannabis.
There are over 100+ known cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBN, etc.)
And the number is growing with better research.
CBD is just one specific type of cannabinoid.
WHAT IS CANNABIDIOL (CBD)?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a primary cannabinoid associated with medicinal and therapeutic benefits of cannabis.
CBD is a non-psychoactive cannibinoid; meaning it does not get you “stoned”
WHAT IS THE BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THC AND CBD?
Simply stated…
THC makes you feel high.
CBD makes you feel better.
This is a generalization, of course. But it captures the concept.
WHAT IS THE SCIENTIFIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THC AND CBD?
Scientifically…
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a psychoactive compound that affects your body and mental processes. Psychoactive compounds alter your mood, perception, and cognitive behavior at a subjective level.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive compound that affects your body and NOT your mental processes. Non-Psychoactive compounds alter physiological conditions at an objective level.
WHERE DO CBD PRODUCTS AND OILS COME FROM?
Most CBD products come from an extraction process that isolates CBD in a concentrated form.
Typically, producers use specific cannabis plants classified as “legal hemp” or “high CBD” strains.
For legal CBD products, the ideal cannabis plant contains:
- high levels of CBD
- low traces of THC
IS CBD LEGAL?
Yes, CBD products are 100% legal when the appropriate standards are met.
Legal CBD products must contain less than 0.03% THC. And they cannot be marketed as a “dietary supplement” according to the FDA.
CBD (and hemp) products are completely legal if they pass standards.
HOW DOES CBD WORK?
CBD works with the body through the endocannabinoid system.
This complex bio-chemical system handles our physical well-being in a variety of ways.
CBD binds with cannabinoid receptors in the body for a wide range of physiological effects.

THE BENEFITS OF CANNABIDIOL AND CBD OIL TREATMENT:
Cannabidiol (CBD) research is interesting and controversial.
Although cannabis is classified and a Schedule I Substance with “no medicinal value” – CBD research is consistently proving its medicinal value.
In fact, the United States government already owns the patent for the medicinal use of cannabidiol
Yet, cannabis still remains illegal at the federal level.
From prestigious universities, to international health organizations… Objective research reveals the medical value of CBD treatment.
And the benefits of these discoveries are often denied to the public.
Because of the ambiguous status of CBD products and treatment – we have to include disclaimers and legal stuff like this…

ADVANCED CBD INFO, TIPS, AND QUESTIONS:
WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF CBD OIL BEFORE PROHIBITION?
Cannabis/Hemp has been used by humans for centuries.
From the industrial hemp of ancient Egyptians… To historical asian CBD medicines and wholistic care.
Cannabis has played an essential role in humanity. The re-emergence of cannabis oils and products will mark a new era of modern culture.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP OIL VS. CANNABIS OIL VS. CBD OIL?
Cannabinoid content.
Depending on the specific plant used, each oil will have a unique compund of cannabinoids.
Hemp Oil comes from industrial hemp plants with virtually no THC content.
Whereas, medicinal cannabis oils in dispensaries often have high THC levels.
CBD oils will be primarily focused on high levels of cannabidiol – one specific cannabinoid.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD OIL AND RICK SIMPSON OIL?
Cannabinoid content (THC and CBD levels) and extraction process used.
The strains of each product are very different. CBD oil is the more general term for high-CBD oils and products.
Rick Simpson Oil is a specific product containing high CBD content and THC content as well. “Rick Simpson Oil” is a completely separate product of its own purpose. It is created through a unique oil production process.
CBD oil is not a replacement or direct alternative to Rick Simpson Oil. They should be considered completely separate products.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD OIL AND CHARLOTTE’S WEB?
Cannabinoid content.
Charlottes web is a specific strain created from cross-breeding industrial hemp with traditional medical marijuana. The Charlottes Web product is a high-CBD extract oil with effects similar to CBD oil.
Tradtional CBD oil is often derived from a wide variety of strains. Charlotte’s Web is derived from a specific set of strains.

COMPARE CBD CONTENT, QUALITY, AND VOLUME:
Remember to pay attention to the overall CBD content and quality.
The total amount of CBD in the product is often an indication of its quality of treatment. CBD content is usually listed in milligrams as “mg” and occasionally only as a percentage.
BEST WAYS TO COMPARE CBD OILS AND PRODUCTS:
1) DIRECT MILLIGRAM LEVEL OF CBD CONTENT
The best way to compare CBD content between oils or products is the milligram level of CBD. Most CBD products will have a clearly labeled “mg” of CBD content.
This ranges anywhere from 5mg to 500mg+
Higher the CBD content = more potent effects of treatment.
2) PERCENTAGE OF CBD BY VOLUME
Sometimes, CBD products are labeled by the percentage of CBD content in comparison to total volume. This requires some simple math to determine the total milligram level of CBD content.
1 gram of CBD oil (25% CBD) = 250mg of CBD total
1000mg x .25 = 250mg
(For reference, 1 gram = 1000 mg)
3) TOTAL VOLUME OF BOTTLE OR PRODUCT
Lastly, pay attention to the total size of the product or bottle. The total volume effects potency levels and consistent dosing. Sometime products increase CBD levels without increasing the total size of a bottle.
For example,
- 1oz tincture bottle with 100mg of CBD
- 1oz tincture bottle with 300mg of CBD
Both products will appear the exact same side-by-side. However, an equal “dose” of the 300mg bottle is 3x stronger.
Remember to consider total size and volume of your CBD products .
